TMJ Treatment in Golden, CO

Jaw pain, clicking, clenching, headaches that start at your temples. TMJ treatment at Handled With Care goes where most massage can’t: inside the mouth, directly on the muscles that move your jaw.

What TMJ Treatment Involves

Each session combines three parts: neck and shoulder work, facial and jaw massage, and intraoral release. For the intraoral part, your therapist uses a gloved hand to work the chewing muscles along the inside of the cheek and jaw — muscles you can’t reach from the outside.

Sessions are 30 minutes and $60.

Signs It Might Help

  • Jaw pain or soreness, especially in the morning
  • Clicking or popping when you chew or yawn
  • Clenching or grinding (bruxism)
  • Tension headaches that start at the temples or jaw
  • Trouble opening your mouth fully
  • Ear pain or fullness with no infection

Why Intraoral Work Matters

Several of the muscles that drive jaw pain sit behind the cheekbone and inside the mouth. A regular massage can relax your neck and face, but it can’t reach them. Working them directly is what makes this treatment different.

Who Does It

TMJ treatment is performed by Matt Schaub, LMT, founder of Handled With Care. Matt is a graduate of the Center of Advanced Therapeutics in Denver and is certified in intraoral TMJ release and myoskeletal/myofascial release. TMJ is one of his core specialties, alongside headaches and chronic neck pain.

What to Expect

Your first visit starts with a short conversation about your symptoms, how long they’ve been going on, and anything your dentist has told you — including whether you wear a night guard. Then Matt works through the neck, face, and jaw, checking in on pressure as he goes.

How many sessions you need depends on how long the problem has been building. After the first visit, we’ll give you an honest read on what to expect. TMJ treatment works well alongside dental care, and if you’d like more neck and shoulder work, pair it with a Custom Massage or 45-Minute Headache Buster.
